Jacques Cavallier

Grasse is a Provencal town located not far from Nice. If it is good to live there because of its mostly sunny climate, it is not however where it comes from such fame. Indeed, Grasse has been considered since the 16th century as the world capital of perfumery.

Famous for its fields of flowers stretching as far as the eye can see, it has also seen the birth of many of the most famous perfumers of our time. Among the latter, Jacques Cavallier is undoubtedly one of the most renowned today.

Jacques Cavallier, a perfumer with a traced destiny

Jacques Cavallier was born in Grasse, in 1962. Beyond having grown up in the middle of fields of roses or jasmine, he also comes from a family of perfumers. Indeed, his father and his grandfather were themselves both perfumers. He was thus bathed in perfumes from his earliest childhood and thus the fact of becoming a nose in turn appeared to him absolutely natural. What is more, beyond following the family path, perfume has always been a true vocation for him. He remembers that, when he was five years old, his father handed him a mouillette de May rose, a variety cultivated exclusively in the region of Grasse. He found it wonderful! Since that day he has devoted a real passion to his profession. Besides, he said: “I do not believe in painful creation: even if it is difficult, it must remain an act of love. »Thus, he made his debut at Charabot while working on a diploma in foreign languages at the same time. Then he worked at Naaren, now Quest, then PFW. From 1990 until 2012, he was a creative perfumer for Firmenich and collaborated in this way with the biggest houses of creation. Nevertheless, a sort of consecration, he is today the official perfumer of the Louis Vuitton house, since 2012. he was a creative perfumer for Firmenich and in this way collaborated with the greatest houses of creation. Jacques Cavallier’s creative work

Jacques Cavallier is a perfumer who is very inspired by the seasons. He admits to being particularly amazed by natural smells, especially those of flowers. Thus, he likes to use mimosa in January, violet flower in February, orange blossom in March, rose in May, and so on throughout the year. He always tries to offer fresh scents that are synonymous with youth. To do this, he gets up every morning at five o’clock and is content to admire the exceptional panorama from his home, sometimes allowing him to see as far as Corsica. Jacques Cavallier is a creator endowed with a perpetual desire to renew himself. Day after day, he tries to write “the perfumery of tomorrow, more emotional and far from the figurative caricature of yesterday”.

In general, Jacques Cavallier produces a sentimental, generous perfume that is characteristic of his Provençal terroir. Among his most famous creations, we owe him several variations of Private Blend by Tom Ford, Ultraviolet by Paco Rabanne, Nina by Nina Ricci, Poême by Lancôme, Classique by Jean-Paul Gaultier, L’Eau d’Issey d’Issey Miyake, … The perfumes resulting from his imagination are particularly numerous to such an extent that it would be almost less tedious to establish the list of famous houses which have not yet collaborated with him.
