    Olivier Pescheux

The profession of perfumer is unusual and also bears the name of “nose”. However, Olivier Pescheux, although part of this profession, does not like this name. “Sounds snobbish,” he said. I simply prefer a perfumer. In addition, the latter is particularly recognized for his talent and his extraordinary know-how. Today we owe him many successes in modern perfumery.

    Olivier Pescheux’s clear course

It was at the age of 10, after seeing the film “Le Sauvage” by Yves Montand and Catherine Deneuve, that Olivier Pescheux decided to become a perfumer. He thus oriented his studies in this direction and graduated from a DEUG in chemistry. Then, he entered the prestigious school of perfumery in Versailles, ISIPCA. Once his diploma in hand, Olivier Pescheux worked for Annick Goutal (a brand taken over today by his daughter under the name Camille Goutal). Then, he left the latter to join the Japanese perfume company KAO. Nevertheless, it was more particularly at Givaudan that he excelled and revealed his real talent to the world. He worked, among others, for Dior, Lanvin and Hugo Boss. Today, Olivier Pescheux only works for prestigious brands and is one of the thirty or so French perfumers who have this luxury. Olivier Pescheux continues to refine his technique over time and works his perfumes like a composer, constantly modifying their harmonies. His creativity and perseverance thus earned him the International Perfume Prize in 2010.

    The authenticity of Olivier Pescheux

Olivier Pescheux seems capable of translating any atmosphere into a perfume. Thus, he manages to highlight each brief given initially by his clients. For him, the art of perfumery is similar to that of music and he affirms that one “composes a perfume as one writes a score”. For this, Olivier Pescheux uses more than 1000 odorous molecules. He assembles these endlessly until he obtains a sort of ideal. Thus, he sometimes says he carries out more than 1000 tests before arriving at a suitable result. What is more, Olivier Pescheux is a designer who says he is in a perpetual quest for authenticity. It is for him a very important value on which he bases himself for each new creation. Thus, each of its perfumes emanates from a particular memory.

Among his most famous works, know that Olivier Pescheux is one of those who developed the perfume 1 Million by Paco Rabanne. Likewise, he has collaborated many times with the company Dyptique. Finally, it is to him that we owe the exquisite scent of Arpège pour Homme by Lanvin, a juice reinventing itself 80 years after the appearance of its cult counterpart for women.
